Powerball Jackpot Rises To $70M, Mega Millions At $66M

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — California residents participated in their first Powerball draw Wednesday evening.

The Wednesday jackpot stood at $60 million. [Update: winning numbers chosen in the Wednesday night draw are 1, 36, 40, 52 and 53. The Powerball number is 20.]

According to Powerball officials Wednesday evening, no tickets in the country matched all six numbers so Saturday's Powerball jackpot will rise to at least $70 million.

California Lottery officials said two tickets worth $215,136 each were sold in Tuesday's Mega Millions draw.

The two tickets sold in California matched all five of the winning numbers but failed to match the Mega number.

The jackpot was an estimated $56 million before Tuesday night's draw. The jackpot for Friday's draw is now at $66 million.

One of the two $215K tickets was sold at the Safeway located at 3970 Rivermark Plaza in Santa Clara. The other winning 5/5 ticket was sold at the ampm located at 12606 Rosecrans Avenue in Santa Fe Springs. Both tickets successfully matched the numbers 17, 30, 41, 48 and 54, missing only the Mega number 13.

Four players had four numbers and the Mega and will each receive $14,373.
