2 Killed After SUV Plows Into Tree In Gardena
GARDENA (CBS) — Two people were killed and a third suffered critical injuries when their sport utility vehicle crashed into a tree in Gardena, a police official said.
Officers were dispatched to the crash scene at Ardath and Rosecrans avenues at 5:48 a.m., Steve Prendergast of the Gardena Police Department said.
According to Prendergast, a green 1993 Ford Explorer that was carrying three men was traveling west on Rosecrans Avenue when it struck a tree and eventually turned on its side in the roadway.
Officials said two of the men were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He apparently suffered multiple broken bones.
