2 Nevada Children Found In Sacramento Following Statewide Amber Alert
SACRAMENTO (CBSLA.com) — Two children missing out of Elko, Nevada, were found safe early Saturday in Sacramento.
An Amber Alert had been issued in California Friday after the children were taken by their non-custodial parents earlier this week, according to Elko police.
Martin Cisneras Rosales, also known as Martin Cisneros, 34, and Amber Schenck, about 30, were accused of taking 9-year-old Lillyanna Ramires and her 3-year-old brother, Martin Angel Rosales II, on Wednesday. Schenck is the children's mother and Cisneras Rosales is the boy's father.
The children had reportedly been in the care of the Division of Child and Family Services and were taken in violation of court orders.
Police had feared for the children's safety and had warned that Cisneras Rosales has shown violent tendencies when dealing with police. A restraining order was issued in July to keep him away from his son. A court order also stated the children are in danger of serious harm from their parents.
Schenck was with the children when they were located, but Cisneras Rosales was not with them, said Sgt. Matthew Locuson of the Elko Police Department.
The children are now in protective custody and have been ordered by a court to be returned to Nevada, Locuson said.
