Arrest Made In Sexual Assault Of 17-Year-Old Girl In Santa Ana; Police Release Sketch Of Suspect In Second Assault
SANTA ANA (CBSLA) — Police say they have made an arrest in connection with one sexual assault of a teenage girl in Santa Ana, and have released a composite sketch in another, unrelated case.
A 17-year-old girl told initially police she was on her way home from summer classes at Century High School when she was attacked by two transients near railroad tracks in Santa Ana. After she was treated for traumatic injuries, detectives were able to speak to her and determined she had been sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance in the area of 700 South Lyon.
Alexis Uriel Dominguez, 18, of Santa Ana, was arrested in this case on suspicion of sexual assault and is being held on $100,000 bail.
The attack was reported just hours after another teen woke up to find a man in her bed.
"He was rubbing my stomach in a circular motion under my shirt, then touched me on top of my private area on top of my shorts," the 15-year-old girl said.
When the girl shouted to her mother for help, the man ran away. She described him as a man in his 20s or 30s who appeared to be "disheveled and dirty," Bertagna said.
The girl says the man spoke English and told her someone dropped him off at her house. He apparently got in through an unlocked door.
"I mean, anything could have happened. Like, this man walked in – anything could have happened. He could have killed me in my sleep, killed my mom in her sleep," she said.
Detectives initially investigated the cases as possibly connected, due to their proximity to railroad tracks and the suspect description of transients being involved. However, Santa Ana police said Tuesday that the incidents are not related -- there was no stranger abduction involved in the attack on the 17-year-old girl.
