2 Dogs Die In North Hollywood House Fire

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Two dogs died in a North Hollywood house fire Tuesday.

The fire was reported at a one-story home in the 6000 block of Farmdale Avenue at 4:26 p.m. on Monday and was knocked down at 4:43 p.m., Brian Humphrey of Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Firefighters forced entry inside the 1,116-square-foot home and found flames in the dining and kitchen area, Humphrey said. Two unconscious dogs were inside the home. No people were injured.

Los Angeles firefighters and paramedics tried to resuscitate the dogs, Humphrey said. One dog was beyond medical help. The other dog was taken to a veterinarian and died at the hospital. The cause of the dogs' death possibly was from smoke exposure.

The 59-year-old home was not equipped with residential fire sprinklers, Humphrey said.

The estimated cause of damage was $85,000.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was electrical.
