Bomb Threats Called In To IE High School, Hospital
GRAND TERRACE (CBSLA.com) — Police are investigating two separate bomb threats in the Inland Empire Tuesday, one at a high school and another at a hospital just six miles apart.
The first call came in just after 10 a.m. at Grand Terrace High School just off the 215 Freeway, prompting the campus to evacuate students and staff members from classrooms. They were moved to nearby sports fields and parking lots as a precaution.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies went through the campus, class by class, looking for anything suspicious, but did not find anything. The call was later deemed to be a hoax.
Just a few minutes after the Grand Terrace High School call, a bomb threat was phoned in to Loma Linda Medical Center in Loma Linda, just six miles away.
Hospital administrators did not order any evacuations, but did issue a "Code Yellow" over its public address system to alert staff members to a potential danger. Authorities later cleared the hospital, but were continuing to investigate the threat.
Loma Linda is one of the half-dozen hospitals where victims of the San Bernardino shooting were taken for treatment.
