2 Bank Robbers Sought In String Of Westside, Valley Heists
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The FBI Friday sought the public's help in identifying two bank robbers wanted for 19 heists across the San Fernando Valley and LA's Westside.
The suspect dubbed the Valley Bandit has been linked to 10 robberies since December of 2012., the FBI said.
He generally threatens a weapon, holding the gun near his waistband and even pointing it at bank employees and customers.
"Witnesses have described the Valley suspect as an Hispanic or Middle Eastern male, between 5'09" and 6' in height, 180-200 pounds and between 25-35 years old," the FBI's Laura Eimiller said.
He has also been seen using a white Mercedes SUV, a black Mercedes sedan and other getaway vehicles.
The Westside Gun & Bag Bandit has been linked to eight robberies since May of last year with his most recent heist occurring on Jan. 7 in Santa Monica.
During his crimes, the suspect wears sunglasses and a hat, alternating between a baseball cap and a cowboy hat.
"The Gun & Bag suspect threatens a weapon and carries a brown paper bag in which he places the stolen cash," Eimiller said.
He is described as a white male, between 35 and 45 years old, almost 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds.
"U.S. Bank is offering a reward of up to $10,000 in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the Westside Gun & Bag Bandit," Eimiller added.
Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of either suspect is urged to contact their nearest FBI office or dial 911.
