2 Arrested In Connection With Jurupa Valley Home Invasion Robbery

JURUPA VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Two men were arrested in connection with a home invasion robbery in Jurupa Valley, authorities said Sunday.

A statement issued by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department says that authorities were dispatched to the 3800 block of Crestmore Road about 2:11 p.m. Saturday following a report of a "home invasion in progress."

Upon arriving on scene, authorities learned that the homeowners had returned to their residence where they found two suspects allegedly burglarizing it.

"As the suspects attempted to flee, they assaulted the victims and attempted to steal their vehicle," the statement said.

Authorities said both suspects – identified as 48-year-old John Ernesto Gonzales of Adelanto and 26-year-old Stephan Smith of Yucaipa -- were eventually arrested.

The men were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of home invasion robbery, attempted carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy.
