2 Accused Of Robbing Man Who Answered Craigslist Ad
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say two South Pasadena men are in custody on suspicion of robbing a man who answered their Craigslist ad to buy an iPhone.
Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Kim said Sunday that 19-year-old Daniel So and 20-year-old Garrett Helstrom were arrested after an investigation by the sheriff's gang unit.
The victim, a Lawndale man, was robbed Feb. 19 after he arranged via the classifieds web site to pay $500 for the phone. Kim says the victim met So behind a Carl's Jr. restaurant in unincorporated Temple City. Upon meeting, So allegedly pulled out what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol, took the victim's cash and fled on foot.
Deputies found a replica of a semi-automatic handgun and suspected stolen property in Helstrom's car.
City News Service reports the suspects are being held on $100,000 bail.
