19 Arrested After Protests At UC Irvine
SANTA ANA (AP) —California prosecutors have filed criminal charges against 19 protesters who stormed a building at the University of California, Irvine.
Charges filed Thursday by the Orange County district attorney's office range from disorderly conduct, trespassing and public nuisance to false imprisonment. Fifteen of those charged were UC Irvine students.
The demonstrators, who were supporting campus janitors at odds with the university, invaded an administrative building on Feb. 24, chanting, blowing whistles and banging on walls outside the chancellor's office. More than 400 people were evacuated during the protest.
No one was hurt.
