18-year-old arrested for deadly Long Beach shooting in December

Police have arrested a man in connection wth a deadly shooting that happened in Long Beach in early December. 

The initial incident happened back on Dec. 10 at around 1:15 p.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department. Officers were called to the 900 block of Via Carmelitos after learning of shots fired in the area and arrived to find one person suffering from multiple gunshot wound. 

The victim, since identified as 32-year-old Dwayne Walton by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. 

Through an extensive investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 18-year-old Mario Amarion Jennings of Rancho Cucamonga, said a statement from LBPD. 

Jennings was arrested on Thursday after LBPD officers and Special Investigations personnel, along with San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department SWAT team members served a warrant. 

He was booked into Long Beach City Jail and remains behind bars in lieu of $3 million bail, police said. 

Investigators still have not released a motive for the incident.
