[UPDATE: The boy and his grandmother have been found safe in Pasadena, according to authorities. No other details were available.]
EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — El Monte Police are asking the public's help to locate a missing 18-month-old boy and his 68-year-old grandmother.
The two missing were last seen Sunday morning around 7 a.m. in the 4400 block of La Madera Avenue, according to family.
Police said Ying Wah Tan Jer, the grandmother, took her grandson, Bryant K. Tan, for a walk using a backpack child carrier.
Officials said the grandmother is known to walk up and down La Madera Avenue and return after a short time.
After several hours, family became concerned when the duo did not return home. After driving around the neighborhood, the family was still unable to locate their loved ones.
The woman carries no cell phone and left her identification in the residence.
El Monte Police are "actively" working and canvassing the city but believe sightings of the woman and child can help them narrow their search.
The woman is 5 feet tall and about 110 pounds. She is described as having black hair and brown eyes and a redness to her face. She has limited English skills and speaks Chinese-Mandarin, according to police.
The boy is 2 feet tall and about 24 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen in a black and brown jacket with a hood.
