$152M Rose Bowl Renovation Kicks Off In Pasadena
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday for a $152 million Rose Bowl renovation project that will include wider tunnels, concourse improvements, new scoreboards and video boards.
The project also includes new restrooms and concession stands, a museum and upgrades to the press box.
"The enhancements commencing today will help keep the Rose Bowl Game the premier bowl game annually for our participants, spectators and broadcast audience throughout the world," Tournament of Roses President Rick Jackson said. "Along with our partners and support of our member conferences, we look forward with great anticipation to the completion of this project and the historic facility we are fortunate to call home."
Most of the upgrades will be done between football seasons and are expected to be completed by August 2013.
The project, which is being funded from bonds issued by Pasadena, was unanimously approved by the Pasadena City Council Oct. 11.
