14-year-old arrested for allegedly stabbing teen at downtown Los Angeles protest
Police arrested a 14-year-old boy on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing another teenager at an immigration protest in downtown Angeles last week.
The stabbing happened last Friday during a large demonstration along the 200 block of North Spring Street near City Hall, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department took the victim, a 17-year-old boy, to the hospital. Doctors listed him in critical condition when he was admitted into care.
Police did not release the suspect's name but booked him for attempted murder.
Last week, demonstrators filled the streets downtown to protest President Trump's crackdown on immigration. Protests in the area began Sunday, where up to 3,000 people caused traffic disruptions as they closed the 101 Freeway for hours.
The demonstrations continued throughout the week with people marching around City Hall for five more days, most notably on Monday during the National Day of Action.
Students in South and East LA walked out of class to join the demonstrations. Other protests took place in the Inland Empire, Orange County and Ventura County.
