'100 Black Men' To Honor Oprah In Beverly Hills
BEVERLY HILLS (CBS) — Media mogul and longtime talk show host Oprah Winfrey is set to be named "Woman of the Year" by The 100 Black Men of Los Angeles organization at a gala event on Friday.
Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx will present the award to Winfrey.
Other honorees include retiring Rep. Diane Watson, D-Los Angeles, and attorney Virgil Roberts, who will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards; Bishop Charles E. Blake of the Church Of God In Christ, who will receive the Man of the Year Award; actress and producer Vanessa Bell Calloway, who will receive the Special Achievement Award; and Byron K. Reed, a Wells Fargo senior vice president, who will receive the Community Partner Award.
The 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, founded in 1981, gives hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in scholarships, and conducts mentoring programs, a health fair and home-buying seminars.
