150-Acre Sharp Fire In Wrightwood 30 Percent Contained

WRIGHTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have contained 30 percent of a wildfire burning in the Angeles National Forest.

The Sharp Fire, which broke out at 12:13 p.m. Thursday, has scorched at least 150 acres of heavy timber in steep terrain located southeast of Wrightwood, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Mandatory evacuations were in place for Mojave Scenic Drive, Buckthorn Road, East Canyon Drive, Mount Mahogany Road, Slippery Elm Road, and Lone Pine Canyon Road south of East Canyon.

A Red Cross evacuation center was set up at Serrano High School, 9292 Sheep Creek Road in Phelan.

No injuries have been reported and no structures have been damaged.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
