10 Things To Look Forward To In 2017 In Los Angeles

2017 is officially here and with it comes great activities and events in the coming months! From the opening of "Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors" at The Broad Museum to the tallest building being built in Los Angeles & California and new hotel developments, there's a lot to look forward to this year.

1.) Opening Of "Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors"

If you think the Broad's Infinity Mirror Room was great, then you'll be thrilled to know that the Museum is opening a special exhibit titled "Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors," with six infinity rooms.

2.) Opening Of the NoMad Hotel In Los Angeles

For those who love the New York NoMad Hotel, you're in luck as the group is opening a west coast version in fall of 2017. Brought to Angelenos from the Sydell Group, a New York-based developer of top notch hotels, it will be set within the former L.A. headquarters of the Bank of Italy. The 12 story building, known as Giannini Place, is set near the up and coming 7th street area of downtown L.A. Get ready for a new downtown hotspot to have some drinks, stay, and grab a bite.

The renovation of the new Century City Mall has literally taken over the entire dining, and entertainment center. One of the new tenants to this $800 million dollar expansion and remodel is New York City's famed Eataly market and restaurant. The grocery and food court will sit above Macy's and it's expected to be one of the most popular openings of the year.

4.) Top Concerts

A myriad of top bands are playing at some of L.A.'s most iconic venues in 2017. On May 20 and 21, 2017, U2 will perform at Pasadena's Rose Bowl for their Joshua Tree 2017 tour. In addition, The Forum will play host to the popular band known as The Weeknd for two nights on April 29 and April 30, 2017. With a capacity of 17,505, expect the Forum to be sold out as the singer puts on a show for his Starboy tour. Other top acts coming to Los Angeles in 2017 include Sting, Blake Shelton, AFI, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bon Jovi, The Lumineers, Billy Joel, and many others.

The Wilshire Grand Center, a 335-meter skyscraper which is under construction in the Financial District of Downtown Los Angeles, is expected to open in the early part of 2017 and will be the tallest building in Los Angeles, California and west of the Mississippi River. At 1,100 feet, it's sure to be a hit for Angelenos and make its mark on the L.A. skyline.

It's about time, right Angelenos? Right! The massive Broadway hit "Hamilton," which has taken the theater world by storm will make its way to the iconic Pantages Theatre from August to December 2017. Conceived and written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the story is one of the founding fathers of our country. Alexander Hamilton seems like an unlikely main character for a Broadway hit, but the performance weaves contemporary music to tell a historical tale with terrific results.

Los Angeles is constantly adapting and changing when it comes to restaurants in the city. In the culinary world, there's no doubt Los Angeles is at the height of its game. 2017 looks to be another great year of restaurant openings, including The Mar Vista in Venice, Birds & Bees in downtown L.A., the gastropub Farida in Hollywood, Bone Kettle in Pasadena, L.A. craft beer bar Mikkeller Bar, Beauty & Essex, The Exchange, Broken Shaker and Rudolph's Bar & Tea at Freehand, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken in Spring of 2017, Row DTLA, The Slanted Door, as well as the restaurant at the new NoMad Hotel.

8.) Marciano Art Foundation Opens

After years of speculation and excitement, The Marciano Art Foundation is set to open in downtown L.A. Brought to Angelenos by Maurice and Paul Marciano of the Guess clothing brand, the museum will open at the former Scottish Rite Masonic Temple on Wilshire. Pieces on exhibit will include a huge 1,500 item archive from the likes of Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, and many up and coming artists, too.

9.) "Fun Home" Comes To Los Angeles

"Fun Home," which garnered rave reviews from the Broadway elite, will be setting foot in Los Angeles from February 21, 2017 to April 1, 2017. The musical, which won five 2015 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, features Alison who is seen throughout three stages of her life.

dineL.A. has become a foodies dream. While winter dineL.A. is already occurring and ends on January 27th, 2017, the organizers will no doubt be offering their summer version of the dineL.A. in July.
