1 Shot During Home Invasion Attempt In Rancho Mirage
RANCHO MIRAGE (CBS) — A man foiled a home invasion attempt in Rancho Mirage by shooting one suspect and chasing another away, the sheriff's department said Saturday.
The incident took place at a home on University Circle about 11:20 p.m. Friday. According to a sheriff's spokesman, deputies arriving at the house found a man in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds.
The homeowner told deputies that two men had attempted to barge into his house, prompting him to open fire.
After wounding one man, the resident saw a second suspect drive away in an unknown type of vehicle on Bob Hope Drive, the spokesman said.
The wounded suspect was taken to Desert Hospital. It was unclear if he was arrested or charged.
The identities of those involved have not been released.
