Child Injured When Homeless Man Tries Grabbing Him Outside Disney Concert Hall In Downtown LA
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A child was injured when an adult man tried to grab him outside the Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles, police said.
The suspect is in custody. Police later described him as an unstable homeless man.
Police called it a random act. They also said the 10-year-old victim and the man did not know each other.
The victim's wounds are not considered life-threatening. The victim was described as "conscious and alert."
The concert hall is located at First and Grand.
Officers were called to a call about "a man with a knife" just after 3:40 p.m.
Sky2's Stu Mundel said it was unclear if the police got into a skirmish with the man or if there was a standoff.
Police later said the homeless man tried to grab the juvenile and that the child was "cut" on the neck by a sharp object, believed to be a set of keys.
The homeless man is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
