1 Killed, 5 Hurt In Crash On Interstate 10 In Alhambra
ALHAMBRA (CBS) — A woman was killed and five others were injured Thursday when a Mercedes-Benz sedan drove through a coned-off construction area and struck an earth-moving machine on Interstate 10 in Alhambra, a CHP sergeant said.
The crash was reported at 12:45 a.m. on the westbound 10 just east of Fremont Avenue.
The 47-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and vehicular manslaughter, according to California Highway Patrol Sgt. William Preciado.
There were six people in the Mercedes. Five of the passengers in the car were hospitalized. One of them, a young woman, died at a hospital. A worker who was in the earth-moving machine at the time of the crash was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
The driver was not hospitalized.
