1 Dead In Multi-Vehicle Crash, Car Fire On 405 Freeway
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — All lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass reopened Friday morning after a multi-vehicle crash and car fire.
The first incident, a single-vehicle accident that resulted in a car fire, occurred around 6:30 a.m. on the southbound side near Skirball Center Drive, fire officials said.
A truck stopped on the northbound side to avoid hitting a Ford Fusion whose driver had stopped in the number 1 lane to assist with the fire. A blue Mustang crashed into the truck and a white Mercedes hit the Mustang.
The driver of the Mustang, an approximately 65-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were transported to Northridge Hospital in unknown condition.
