1 Killed, 2 Injured In Huntington Beach Car Accident
HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police were on the scene of a three-vehicle crash Saturday that killed one person and injured two others.
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, officers were sent just after 11:00 a.m. to the area of Garfield Avenue and Edwards Street for reports of an injury related traffic collision.
Once on scene, officers said they located a green 1998 Ford F-150, a silver 2010 BMW X6 and a black 1980 Datsun 280ZX all with significant damage.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Ford was traveling West on Garfield Avenue when he entered the intersection of Edwards Street and collided with the driver of the BMW, who was traveling South on Edwards Street.
According to police, at least one of the two vehicles then collided with the driver of the Datsun, who was traveling East on Garfield Avenue.
In total, three victims were transported to UCI Medical Center. One victim was listed in critical condition and the two others were listed in stable condition.
Two males, both believed to be traveling in the Ford, were ejected from the vehicle and found in the roadway.
Police said a 19-year-old Huntington Beach resident, believed to be the driver of the Ford, sustained serious injuries in the crash, but was able to speak with officers.
The passenger in the Ford, a 26-year-old Huntington Beach resident, sustained critical injuries in the collision and was tended to by witnesses until paramedics arrived, officers said. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
According to authorities, the driver of the BMW was able to get out of his vehicle and appeared to have moderate injuries. The driver of the Datsun was uninjured in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing and no citations or arrests have been made.
Officials are not releasing the identification of the victim until next of kin is notified.
