1 dead following apartment complex fire in Lake Forest
One person was killed when a fire broke out at an apartment complex in Lake Forest on Thursday.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 21000 block of Camelia Drive at around 11 p.m. after learning of a fire in the area, according to a statement from the Orange County Fire Authority.
They arrived and found an "established fire that was threatening surrounding units," according to a post on Facebook.
While they began to battle the flames, crews also launched a search for residents, which resulted in the discovery of a deceased occupant inside of one unit. They have not yet been identified.
Firefighters were able to prevent flames from spreading into other parts of the building, they said.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway. Both OCFA and Orange County Sheriff's Department investigators are involved.
