CBS2's Michele Gile reported from the scene.

The single-car crash involved an Infiniti holding seven -- three females and four males, all 17.  The car is meant to hold only five.

Gile said there was one female passenger who is 20 and the other two females were 17.

Authorities said the Jaws of Life had to be used to extricate the victims from the vehicle.

Orange County Fire Authority Captain Larry Kurts said it took crews less than three minutes to get the doors of the vehicle removed.

He said the six survivors were all transported to trauma centers around Orange County.

By Friday evening, officials believed speed might have been a factor in the case.

KCAL9's Rachel Kim said the car was apparently speeding and crashed violently.

"The vehicle ended up losing control," said Tustin Police Department Lt. Robert Wright. "And it collided  into some pylons that were  on the side, off the road. The vehicle then flipped onto its side, slid and then hit the moving truck."

"I just heard someone screaming," said Nicole Lombardo, a witness, "so I ran over to them. "
