1 Dead, 3 Injured Following Crash At End Of Police Pursuit
MONTCLAIR (CBSLA.com) — One person was killed and three others injured Sunday in a crash following a police chase in Montclair.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Indian Hill Boulevard, according to authorities.
The incident began after Montclair police were dispatched to a local Target on a burglary call.
When officers arrived on scene, "a male suspect fled the store through a fire exit with two large TV's" and jumped into a waiting blue Honda.
The suspect vehicle fled onto the 10 Freeway, exited at Indian Hill Boulevard and crashed into three other vehicles, police said.
"The Honda exited the offramp at a high rate of speed, was involved with the white pickup truck. And the white pickup truck over turned," said CHP Sgt. Grady Stevens.
The unidentified male suspect, who was in his 30s, was ejected in the collision and died at the scene.
Gabrielle Wines, the 28-year-old female driver of the Honda, was arrested at the scene for murder, burglary and avoiding a police officer causing injury.
Wines and two others were transported to a local hospital for unspecified injuries.
