1 Dead, 2 Critically Injured Following Crash On 60 Freeway
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A SigAlert was issued Friday, shutting down all eastbound lanes of the 60 Freeway for nearly eight hours following an accident involving three big rig trucks.
The accident was reported just after 11:15 a.m., officials said. A U-Haul and a box truck became involved in a fender bender and were pulled over on the side of the road, the drivers exchanging information between the trucks, when a big rig carrying bananas and tomatoes slammed into them, CBS2/KCAL9's Bobby Kaple reported.
Three people were crushed between the trucks. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and the two others were airlifted to hospitals in critical condition with "major trauma" injuries, the California Highway Patrol's Kerri Rivas said.

Kaple reported that the CHP reopened three lanes at around 6 p.m. The freeway was fully functional by 7:15 p.m.
