1 Burned In Car Fire Off 110 Freeway

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Investigators combed Friday through the remains of a fire near a homeless encampment that injured at least one person.

The fire was first reported at 6:23 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Washington Boulevard, near the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway onramp, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said. Firefighters found several vehicles near a homeless encampment on fire.

The blaze was quickly extinguished, but one man with third-degree burns to his right leg had to be taken to the hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.

LAFD Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire, Scott said.
