1 Arrested After SUV Slams Into Compton Home
COMPTON (CBS) — A Compton woman left her kitchen just before an SUV slammed into the spot where she had been sitting Tuesday night.
Her dog prompted her to exit the room just before the crash, which took place in the 13000 block of South Aranbe Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said.
The driver and a passenger fled the scene, but at least one of them was later arrested.
Witnesses say a woman was on the kitchen phone when her dog, Cobra, ran away. A black SUV then crashed into the kitchen as she ran to catch the dog.
Neighbors said that the driver and another person ran out of the vehicle. Residents chased the suspects and tried to keep them from leaving the scene before authorities arrived.
One of the suspects was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Kimball said. He was taken to Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he will be booked.
