1 Dead, Suspect Hospitalized After Downey Home-Invasion
DOWNEY (CBS) — A man was fatally shot Wednesday morning during a home-invasion robbery in Downey, police said.
Officers were sent to the area of Gainford Street between Garnish Drive and Downey & Sanford Bridge Road shortly before 3 a.m., according to Downey police Sgt. Randy Patrick.
Authorities found the man, who was described as a "victim," dead at the scene. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives. He reportedly owned a nightclub.
A person described as a possible suspect was also hospitalized with a gunshot wound, police said.
Authorities were also looking for one or more additional suspects, who reportedly fled the scene.
Downey police requested assistance from a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department SWAT team.
