FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Dozens of World War II veterans, and a handful of Pearl Harbor survivors gathered to share a meal and their stories on this, the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attacks in Hawaii.

The gathering was put together by the non-profit organization Roll Call and it was held at the Birchman Baptist Church in Fort Worth.

Through salutes and a presidential speech re-enactment those in attendance remembered that fateful day on December 7th, 1941.

Dale Robinson, 94, an Army veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor was only 19 when the Japanese attacked.

He recalled being outside of his barracks when the Japanese fighter planes came flying above.

Mr. Robinson said, "It's hard to believe isn't it Seventy-five years have gone by since then."

Robert Tanner also survived the attack, but lost many friends.

He added, "the blast threw me across the steps. I slid on my belly for about 35 feet", about the moments when the bombs were falling.

The veterans say they all shared their stories on this anniversary hoping younger generations won't ever forget all that was lost and sacrificed on that dark day in history.
