Texas A&M Buys Texas Wesleyan Law School & Makes It Public

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Texas A&M University has fulfilled a longtime goal Monday with its acquisition of Texas Wesleyan Law School. The former private law school was renamed Texas A&M University School of Law and will become a public institution.

The $73 million deal was in the works for a year. The school will specialize in business and intellectual property law.

A year ago, the Texas A&M University System announced its plan to buy the downtown Fort Worth law school for $25 million with the promise to make it a top-tier institution that draws students from around the nation.

The law school will remain in its current buildings, which Texas A&M is renting from Wesleyan. The purchase is expected to provide additional resources for the law school and help it achieve a higher profile. The new website for Texas A&M University School of Law went live today.
