DALLAS (CBS11) - He was shot down over Bosnia by Serbian ground forces in the summer of 1995.
Captain Scott O'Grady says his will to survive and desire to see his family again kept him alive
No food, no water or warm clothing. He found shelter in a wooded area and then he prayed.
He also had no doubt he would be rescued.
Six days later he was rescued by the United States Military.
O'Grady says the lessons learned from that experience gave him new perspective and a new life mission
"I tell people this is not the most devastating thing that has happened to me in my life". O'Grady also says
"You'd be surprised what you can overcome from the challenges that life can throw on you."
He wasn't born in Texas but this Texan with Character says God brought him here.
He eventually enrolled in a Theological Seminary in Dallas.
Now he spends his time doing charity work across the Metroplex and sharing the lessons he learned in those 6 days behind enemy lines hoping to help others.
