DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The 14-year-old girl accused of drowning a two-month-old baby Monday made her first appearance before a judge today.

The Henry Wade Juvenile Center will likely be the teenager's home for quite some time. There is no bail proceeding in the juvenile system unless or until the suspect is certified to stand trial as an adult. That process could take months.

The suspect is expected to be back in court in two weeks for a hearing.

Detectives say the teen called police Monday morning and admitted to drowning two-month-old Justice Hull.

The baby's mother is in jail and had asked CPS to place Justice in the home of a family friend. That friend was at work when the baby was killed.

CPS is promising a full investigation into exactly who was caring for the infant in the days leading up to her death.

CPS released a statement today saying in part...

" We grieve the loss of two-month-old Justice Hull and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. CPS approved the placement and was monitoring the infant's progress. An internal inquiry by the DFPS Office of Child Safety is under way to determine if all aspects of the case were handled appropriately by CPS. The results of the review will be shared publicly."

Detectives have not released details of how the two month old was drowned. Sources close to the investigation say that the teen's demeanor since her arrest has been calm and she has shown no outwards signs of remorse.
