Rangers May Be The New Sheriff In Town
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Last time we checked, Texas was football country, right? Home of America's team and DFW's favorite sons, the Dallas Cowboys. That was then. This is now.
Sports fan Jennifer Wilson sums it up. "It's all about the Rangers right now."
Geovany Martinez says we've changed. "It's for sure a rangers' town"
Say what you will, but you can argue that the Cowboys are in an unusual role; playing second fiddle to the Rangers.
"I've been a rangers' fan forever and I hate football. It's very strange that the tables have turned" says Rangers fan Aeriel Youngblood.
On the street and on the air, the rangers are all the rage. During the Cowboys debacle Monday, you could see and hear Cowboys fans falling in love with someone else.
At local stores, fans may walk in with Romo on their backs, but they're wearing their hearts on the sleeves and the shirts of Rangers gear.
Michelle Finazzo knows where the money is made. She opened a roadside stand in North Oak Cliff selling Rangers merchandise. You know what they say, it's all about marketing and right now the Rangers are the hot item on the market.
"I wish the cowboys were doing better, but they're not. The Rangers are going to the World Series and everyone is pumped up about that," says Finazzo.
It seems there's a new sheriff in town and he doesn't wear a silver star. This Ranger wears a big "T" on his hat. Perhaps it stands for the "Times... they are a changing."
