Stunt Pilot In Viral Video Could Lose License
DALLAS (CBSDFW/AP) - A North Texas stunt pilot shown maneuvering his biplane perilously close to people on the ground could lose his license.
Video of the incident Saturday at Lancaster Regional Airport was posted to YouTube and widely broadcast. It shows the plane approaching the runway and then dipping to the left, its wing just a few feet from the ground. It roars past a person riding an all-terrain vehicle and another videotaping the approach.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating Jason Newburg, who the agency claims lacked a valid waiver. Agency spokesman Lynn Lunsford says Newburg may also have violated FAA rules that prohibit pilots from acts that endanger people and property. He adds it's too early to determine what penalties Newburg may face.
The voice message box at Newburg's business, Viper Airshows, was full.
Newburg was also involved in a two-seat helicopter accident in 2008, according to Inside Edition. Newberg and the passenger walked away from a hard landing after their helicopter came to rest on a curb in Cedar Hill.
