Midlothian Police Release More Video In Bevers Murder Case

MIDLOTHIAN (CBSDFW.COM) - In an effort to generate new leads in the Missy Bevers murder, the Midlothian Police Department released more surveillance footage from inside Creekside Church where Bevers was killed early Monday morning before she was to lead a Camp Gladiator fitness class.

Detectives want the public to focus in on the mannerisms and distinguishing walk of the suspect.

"We believe somebody knows who this person is and hasn't come forward," Assistant Police Chief Kevin Johnson said during a news conference Friday afternoon.  "We're committed to finding the person responsible for Missy's death and we're not going to rest until we do so."

Police say they still do not have a motive for the murder and aren't releasing details on how Bevers was killed.

Police are reiterating they do not know if the suspect in police gear in the video is a man or woman. Despite the fact he or she is still out there, police say they still believe the community is not in danger.

"I don't think there's uneasiness, everybody is just very sad," said a Midlothian homeowner who asked to be identified only as Lisa. "Missy was well known. Well liked."

Lisa says the prevailing sentiment around town is not so much fear that a killer is on the loose, as there is a hunger for justice.

"They want him caught…whoever is involved. They want him caught."

She says many in the town remain unconvinced that Bevers interrupted a burglary—many think that for whatever reason she was targeted. And that is just as shocking as how she died.

"Nobody would expect anything to happen in this town, let alone to somebody like that…everyone that you talk to that knew her, loved her and said she was the sweetest person," said Lisa.

"Our investigation has included the execution of search warrants in the past couple of days and have formed the basic building blocks of our investigation," says Johnson.

Midlothian Police say they continue to pour through numerous tips coming and is collaborating with multiple federal partners, including the FBI and ATF, and neighboring agencies to help identify the suspect.

"This case is weighing heavy on the community and our investigative team. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Bevers family and our entire Midlothian community. We will vigorously pursue the person or persons responsible and bring them to justice," said Midlothian Police Chief Carl D. Smith.

Bevers' husband, Brandon, was in Biloxi, Mississippi, at the time of the murder at his annual fishing trip. Investigators during an afternoon briefing were asked if they had been able to confirm his alibi.

"We're closer to an absolute confirmation," said  Johnson, "but, her husband is cooperating in the investigation."

Johnson added, "At this point, everything's on the table… we simply just don't know."

Meanwhile, a plea from the community: "we want answers," says Lisa, "and we want someone put away for it."

They're calling it justice for Missy.

Oak Farms Dairy has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and grand jury indictment of the person or persons responsible.

· Monday, April 18, 2016: 4:20 A.M. – Mrs. Bevers appears on video surveillance camera walking into the church building.
· Monday, April 18, 2016: 4:35 A.M. – Participant in Camp Gladiator arrives at location
· Monday, April 18, 2016: 5:00 A.M. – Two 911 calls received from location
· Monday, April 18, 2016: 5:01 A.M. – Fire Department dispatched
· Monday, April 18, 2016: 5:03 A.M. – Initial Patrol Officers dispatched
· Monday, April 18, 2016: 5:07 A.M. – Fire Department arrives at the location
