FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The Alliance area in will soon have another hospital. HCA North Texas is building a new $71 million hospital near Interstate-35W and North Tarrant Parkway.

Currently ER at Alliance, an existing freestanding emergency room, is the only HCA facility in the area. The yet to be named four-story acute care hospital will be attached to the ER at Alliance building.

HCA administrators say the new hospital will meet the growing needs of the rapidly growing Alliance area. "The size of Alliance is now close to the size of Lubbock, Texas. It's an incredibly big population," North Hills Hospital CEO Randy Moresi explained. "With the highway situation being what it is, its just time for services to go out to Alliance."

The full-service hospital will have an emergency room and 30 beds… for now. "It's built for fairly easy and rapid expansion as we see fit, because we'll actually have extra room not only in that building but also throughout that property. It's a 73-acre property," Moresi said.

HCA is also looking at specifics of the population in the area when considering staffing. "There will be an emphasis certainly on women's services due to the demographics out there," Moresi said. "There's a large population of baby-bearing people."

The new health facility is the second to go up in the Alliance area; Texas Health Resources has a hospital in northern Tarrant County, near Golden triangle Boulevard.

The new HCA North Texas hospital will have more than 140,000 square feet and also include surgical services, imaging, endoscopy, a medical/surgical unit and an intensive care unit (ICU).

Moresi said HCA North Texas hopes workers at Alliance will, "…start moving dirt early this summer, probably in June. We're on a pretty fast pace to construct it. We think we'll be open very late 2014."
