Hailstorms Brings Rental Car Crisis To North Texas

WYLIE (CBSDFW.COM) - An overflow of drivers with hail damage have created a rental car crisis in North Texas. Most companies around Wylie have wait-lists with hundreds of names.

Enterprise Rent-a-Car reported a wait at every branch in North Texas.

"We're on a waiting list here," said driver Melissa Anderson. "We're on a waiting list at Hertz. We're on a waiting list for pretty much any rental car that will take us."
Anderson said the line at Hertz was more than 1,000 drivers.

"We have no vehicle to get to work," Anderson said. "They said, put your name on the waiting list, and if we get to your name, we'll call you." CBS11 also checked with Budget Car Rental. There were no available vehicles for 100 miles.

All area companies have begun shipping in cars from other states, some as far away as Florida and Arizona.
