Garland Woman Stabbed to Death In Home
GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Garland police are investigating the stabbing death of an elderly Garland resident in her home Saturday night.
The woman is identified as 71-year-old Janet Vanderslice.
Vanderslice's son visited her home to check on her and found her dead inside.
Police were called to the home on the 6200 block of Lennox Lane.
Investigators said it appears the Garland woman was stabbed to death.
Police did not see any sign of forced entry or any items missing that might indicate a robbery.
"Right now we are looking for a motive as well as a motive to do this murder," said Garland Police spokesman Joe Harn.
"We need the public's help on this one. Somebody saw something - something out of the way that we have not contact and if so we need them to come forward and tell us."
Vanderslice's neighbors are just as perplexed as investigators.
"We haven't had anything like this in this neighborhood," said 20 year neighbor Judy Dunn.
"I don't know to be scared or not at this point."
Dunn said her neighbor was constantly on the go but when she did stay home she often spent her time gardening in her front yard.
That's where she was reportedly last seen by a neighbors on her front porch Friday morning.
