Empty Cowboys Stadium Means Empty Pockets
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The lingering NFL lockout isn't just impacting football players and owners. It's also having a big impact on the livelihoods of businesses and people who depend on the games.
Tiene Richardson works as an usher at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Before most games she's usually busy helping fans get to their seats, but she says her first love is really football. "I have been a Cowboy fan for so long," says Richardson "I love sports!"
The retired nurse from Euless is also an usher across the street at Cowboys Stadium. No game means no paycheck for her. "It will impact me that I work," says Richardson as she laughs "When the Cowboys play they need everybody."
During a game The Popcorn Store nearby in Lincoln Square is packed. Fans can park in the shopping center parking lot as long as they spend $40 in any store. "I think it might hurt a little bit," says Stephanie Fisher, who works at The Popcorn Store "We are hoping it will stay busy with all the other events at the stadium."
Losing one or two games would be bad enough, but an entire season is just not forgivable to most fans, especially for Richardson.
She swears her love for the Rangers and the Cowboys is equal, but is desperately hoping there's football. "I'm hoping it looks good I'm thinking surely Mr. Jones didn't build stadium for them to not play football."
