DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — One person died after being ejected from a car that went off a bridge at Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway and Skillman Street early Saturday morning, police say.

Dallas police tried to make a traffic stop on a Suzuki Forenza around 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning near the 9900 block of LBJ Freeway when the driver sped away from the officer on the Skillman exit ramp, the department said. Police said the car lost control, drove off the road and hit a sign. The car then crossed all eight lanes of Skillman before hitting a cement bridge guardrail, rolling down an embankment and landing on LBJ Freeway.

Police say the driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.
