COPPELL (CBSDFW.COM) - Praba Reddy and her family never thought their backyard pool would go under water -- but that was before Denton Creek swallowed it.
Reddy says, "Yeah, we're not too happy about it."
Their 7-year-old son Asheesh Mootha and 9-year-old daughter Anika say they hoped to go swimming for Father's Day. "We kind of lost are swimming pool for a few days."
Denton Creek has continued to rise days after Tropical Storm Bill dumped heavy rain -- causing Lake Grapevine to overflow at a faster rate.
Reddy says they have watched the creek slowly creep into their backyard. "It's been nerve-wrecking."
The creek has also closed a section of nearby Deforest Road and invaded a front yard.
Reddy says she and her husband are taking no chances. "We've cleared out the house."
Neighbors helped them move most of the furniture upstairs, and the rest onto paint cans.
Reddy says, "It scares me. I hope it doesn't come into the house because it won't be good."
It's a similar story one block over for Bindi Patel and her family. "We're pretty nervous."
Patel credits neighbors for helping them put up 180 sandbags and a tarp to protect the side of the house facing the rising Denton Creek.
She says, "When you live in a home for so long, and you get it to what you want it to be like, you make it a home, and something like this can just come and destroy it in a day or a few hours."
On Friday night, the city of Coppell says it hasn't received any reports that the creek flooded the inside of anyone's house.
As homeowners keep a close eye on the creek, neighbors are helping to keep their spirits afloat.
They're having a watch and wait party until midnight Friday, when the creek is expected to crest.
Reddy says this is why she loves her neighborhood. "Everyone is really wonderful. They just keep coming and it's been great."
