DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Police say a man used a cab to flee officers after stabbing the driver multiple times in the torso while they were discussing which direction to turn.
Dallas police say officers arrested 25-year-old Danny Martinez around 5:30 a.m. Saturday and charged him with aggravated robbery and evading arrest.
Police say they met the cab driver in the 4100 block of San Jacinto Street around 4:55 a.m. The cab driver said he had picked Martinez up from a night club in the 4100 block of East R.L. Thornton Freeway and began the fare. The driver told police while the two were discussing which direction to turn, Martinez stabbed him, then the driver escaped from the cab and Martinez jumped behind the wheel.
Martinez was later seen driving the cab near Hampton Road and Singleton Boulevard, according to the report. Police say Martinez sped off when officers initially tried to stop him, but he eventually stopped in the 1000 block of Singleton Boulevard, where officers arrested him.
He is in Lew Sterrett Jail.
