DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Urbandale Park in Dallas was finished being rebuilt Saturday after it was burned down 11 years ago by children.
The playground equipment was paid for by a nearly $70,000 grant from Niagara Water.
According to neighbors, before the playground was rebuilt, the area used to be filled with illegal activities.
Local residents said it was frustrating that it took this long to rebuild the playground. They are hopeful that the new park can turn the neighborhood around and attract younger families.
Resident Judy Perez said for the first time in seven years since moving into the neighborhood her daughters have a safe place to play.
"I think it will help. It's good that it's here because I don't like the other teenagers that are here." said resident Judy Perez. "I think it will be good and that I'll see more kids here because there was no kids here before."
