Charges Against Dez Bryant Could Be Dropped
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The criminal case against Dallas Cowboys receiver, Dez Bryant, for a violent encounter between him and his mother this past July, could be dropped if Bryant stays out of trouble for a year.
According to a statement released on behalf of Bryant, he entered into an agreement with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, which will require him to undergo counseling for one year.
"Mr. Bryant understands the seriousness of this incident and already has started seeing a counselor for anger management," said Royce West, Bryant's attorney.
Bryant was facing a potential domestic violence charge for allegedly attacking his mother, Angela Bryant. She reported to police that Bryant ripped her shirt and bra, pulled her hair and slapped her across the face with his hat at her Desoto home this summer. According to West, the agreement did not require Bryant to plea to that charge.
"Both Dez and his mother are satisfied with today's decision. Ms. Bryant did not want charges filed against her son," said West.
