FORT WORTH (CBSDFW) - An iconic Texas restaurant chain appears to have closed most of its stores.
Black-Eyed Pea has closed many of its location in North Dallas, and reports indicate other stores are closed across the state.
A closed sign was posted on the front door at several DFW locations including the Fort Worth restaurant on Camp Bowie Boulevard, and in North Dallas on Belt Line Road at Coit Road.
"This location is closed until further notice," the sign on the building in North Dallas says.
Reports say the Black-eyed Pea in the Arlington Highlands shopping center is still open but that phone calls during business hours to locations in north Arlington location (1400 N. Collins St.) and Hurst location (900 Airport Freeway) were not answered.
Arlington-based Restaurants Acquisition I, LLC, the owner of Black-eyed Pea restaurants in Texas, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization last December, saying that it had been unable to attract new capital in the last two years and had to close 15 stores in the wake of shrinking profits.
