In 2011, craft breweries started popping up all over Dallas. In surrounding cities in the DFW area, there were already some big craft breweries, but the craft brewery business has only grown since then. A lot of people think of beer in the summer, but there are also some great beers being produced right here in DFW that are perfect for drinking in the winter. These are some of the best winter beers that you can find being brewed right here in DFW.

After a decade of practicing law, Michael Peticolas decided to go into the brewing business. That was back in 2011 when Michael brewed his first beer, Velvet Hammer. Since then, Peticolas Brewing Company has won many awards for their beers. Brewery tours are available, but only for four hours per month, so if you're interested in seeing where these delicious brews are made, you'll want to plan ahead. The perfect brew for the winter here is Wintervention. It is a dark and strong winter ale with spices like cinnamon, ginger and allspice. They use English hops, good quality malts and get the spices from a local spice maker.

Not only does Humperdinks serve some delicious burgers, but they also brew their own beer. Yes, craft beers are brewed right on the premises. You can even take their beer home in kegs or growlers. Their beer, the Humpkin Pumpkin, makes you feel like you're drinking a nice pumpkin pie. It's an amber ale with lots of fresh pumpkin blended with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. was founded in 2004 and has grown a lot in 11 years. They started out brewing 2,000 barrels per year and are now brewing around 20,000 barrels per year. The brewery has won over 50 national awards as well, which explains why they are so popular. Their Winter Warmer is an English dark ale with notes of plum, chocolate and raisins. It's a great beer for a holiday gathering.

Lakewood Brewing Company was founded in 2011, but the plan to start this family-owned craft brewery has been around for a while. Wim Bens, the founder, was born in Belgium and lived there for seven years before moving to Texas. In the first year, 11 different styles of beer were produced. Four Corners started when three friends came together and started brewing beer in a garage. They ended up with a great brewery with owners who are really passionate about their fans and the neighborhood. Celebracíon is a Belgian strong ale.
