The shooter has been identified as a 28-year-old from Nashville, authorities said.
"We strongly believe there was going to be some other targets, including maybe family members, and one of the malls here in Nashville," said Nashville Police Chief John Drake.
"She knew something was wrong deep down inside. Very often people are ashamed to get help, very often people don't know where to get help," Shiener added speaking on the shooter.
Three 9-year-old students and three staffers were killed in the rampage at The Covenant School, a private Christian grade school. Police say they shot and killed the shooter.
