"To be honest with you, at the start, when it first happened, I was hurt," Chauncey Billups said.
After the applause and cheering died down, Billups explained how he got his number back.
"It's going to probably be one of the best frontcourts in the NBA," Bynum said.
"It was the first year somebody from the NBA wanted me," Datome said with a smile. "I couldn't do it before."
On NBA Draft night when 2013 Detroit Pistons first round pick Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's name was called, there were many Pistons fans that were not very happy.
On his reputation for sometimes "lazy play," Smith said, "Basketball is a game of imperfection."
The five-time All-Star turns 37 in September.
"We see Josh in that same vein, as someone that can play multiple positions and match up with whoever," Dumars said.
Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars calls Smith a two-way player.
