Your Halloween Costume Says More About Your Personality Than You Think
DETROIT (WWJ) -- With Halloween right around the corner, you might not have known that your choice of costume may be saying something about you without you saying a word.
If you dress like a celebrity, it may be that you like to follow trends, while a sexy costume lets you show a side of yourself you might typically repress.
Frightening characters -- like scary clowns or monsters -- give you a chance to safely express your dark side without guilt, and you may be showing a playful attitude if you dress like a comic book or cartoon character.
Whatever costume you choose, Psychologist Scott Bea says to remember it's all about having fun.
"They say we can only let about 20 percent of our real personality leak out in our workplace," Bea said. "When you're being a parent you have to conform to a certain set of standards, but on Halloween we get to play a little bit, so we can expand the range of who we are in a real pleasant and fun way."
When it comes to animal costumes, werewolves and lions show a sense of aggression while wearing a bunny or cat costume means you're trying to show a cute or mysterious side of your personality.
